Getting There — Ground Transportation
- Narita Express (N'EX): JR Narita Express to Tokyo Station in 53–83 min for ¥3,070 (¥4,070 return). Runs every 30–60 min. Connects to Shinjuku and Shibuya.
- Keisei Skyliner: Keisei Skyliner to Ueno in 41 min for ¥2,570. Slightly cheaper and faster than N'EX to the east side of Tokyo.
- Airport Limousine Bus: TCAT and Airport Limousine buses to major Tokyo hotels and Haneda Airport for ¥3,100. Slower in traffic.
- Taxi: Expensive — expect ¥25,000–35,000 (~$180–250) to central Tokyo. Not recommended.
- Rental Car: On-site at T1 and T2; driving to Tokyo is not recommended given traffic and parking costs.

Pro Tips for NRT Travelers
- The N'EX or Keisei Skyliner are the best ways to central Tokyo — taxis are prohibitively expensive.
- Allow 2+ hours for connections at NRT — the airport is large and immigration/customs can be slow.
- Japan's famous service quality extends to NRT: staff are helpful, signage is excellent, and restrooms are immaculate.
- Get a Japan IC Card (Suica or Pasmo) at the airport for seamless transit in Tokyo — rechargeable and accepted widely.
- Narita's duty-free shops have excellent Japanese whisky, sake, and electronics — compare prices with downtown before buying.
- The airport is far from Tokyo (60 km) — stay in the Narita area if you have a very early or late connection rather than making the journey twice.
- Tokyo has two airports: check if HND (Haneda, closer to downtown) has your flight before booking through NRT.
